New York State Republican Legislative Leaders Senator Rob Ortt and Assemblyman Will Barclay today congratulated the unanimous election of Edward F. Cox as Chairman of the State Republican Party. Mr. Cox was elected by county chairs today at a special meeting in Albany.
“I want to congratulate Ed Cox on his election as our State Republican Party Chairman. Chairman Cox has consistently demonstrated his commitment to growing and strengthening the party throughout the state, and he was instrumental in defeating last year’s shameless gerrymander attempt by New York Democrats. I thank our former Chair – now Congressman – Nick Langworthy for his dedication and service to the party. I’m excited to move forward with a unified and energized party as we focus on the election cycle upon us and beyond,” said Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt.
“Ed Cox cares deeply about New York State, the future of the Republican Party and has worked tirelessly to help Republicans achieve success. I’ve enjoyed a great working relationship with him and extend my sincere congratulations on this victory. New York Republicans performed extraordinarily well this fall, with Congressional and legislative wins that were nothing short of historic. Assembly Republicans expanded our Conference by picking up five seats and were victorious in areas traditionally dominated by Democrats. In the coming year we look forward to working collaboratively with the State Chairman and his team to continue the momentum we experienced in 2022,” said Assembly Republican Leader Will Barclay.
Mr. Cox previously served as the State GOP Chairman from 2009-2019. He replaces former Chairman Nick Langworthy, who is stepping down from the post after winning his bid for New York’s 23rd Congressional District.
