SKELOS AND GOP RECAPTURE SENATE

Led by Senator Skelos, Senate Republican Campaign Committee Chairman Tom Libous and Regional Vice-chairs Chuck Fuschillo, Marty Golden, Mike Nozzolio and Cathy Young, Republicans recaptured the State Senate in last November’s state legislative elections.

Following two years in the minority, the GOP did even better than the experts predicted in 2010 – winning four Democrat-held seats and welcoming seven new members as part of an historic Freshman class.

Members of the incoming Freshman Republican class included Greg Ball, Pat Gallivan, Mark Grisanti, Jack Martins, Tom O’Mara, Patty Ritchie and Lee Zeldin, representing districts in every corner of the state.

Due to the hard work and dynamic personalities of its candidates, and because Republicans were right on the issues that middle-class families cared about, Republicans took control of the Legislature’s upper chamber and turned the page on two long years of Democrat dysfunction in Albany.

These fine men and women, many of whom have backgrounds in local government or law enforcement, or have served in leadership roles within their communities, have worked in concert with the returning Republican members to form a strong team for New York.

From the get-go, Senate Republicans have embraced an agenda that includes less spending, lower taxes and policies that help the private sector create jobs for workers. Your agenda is their agenda, and Republicans have kept their word to the taxpayers who trusted them with the awesome responsibility of leading the State Senate.
