$4.82 million versus the Democrats’ $200,000
Albany — The Republicans are winning the money war as the battle for control of the state Senate heats up, the Daily News has learned.
The Senate Republican Campaign Committee will report Tuesday having a whopping $4.82 million cash on hand, GOP sources told The News on Sunday.
By comparison, the Dems have just $200,000 on hand and remain $1.7 million in debt despite raising about $1 million over the past six months since the last required filing with the state.
The Republicans, who hold a razor-thin majority , will report having raised just over $3 million in the past six months, sources said.
One boastful Senate GOP official called the fund-raising advantage “a huge spread, particularly in a blue state,” which “significantly tilts the playing field in our direction for 2012.”
“So much for a fierce battle for control of the state Senate; it’s getting close to game, set, and match already,” the GOPer crowed.
